History
A Family Business Above All
Sophie has taste, she travels, is curious and she loves to have fun. She has style and she’s full of charisma. Paul & Joe is above all a state of mind: fashion, yet not a victim, friendly, spontaneously elegant, happy.
It was in the 1980’s that Sophie's parents founded the “Le Garage” brand of shirts, a must have of its time. After studying management and journalism, Sophie learnt the ropes of the industry. Her passion for fashion was emerging. She continued her studies in Fashion Business at IFM and completed an internship at Azzedine Alaïa where she discovered all aspects of a large fashion house before officially joining the family business.
However Sophie was an entrepreneur at heart and she very quickly launched her own brand named after her two sons Paul and Joe. Anticipating future market trends, she broke the codes and conventions of the moment (black & white, minimalism, grunge). Her signature style is young, fun, vibrant, colorful, reviving a black & white wardrobe, revisiting the spirit of vintage. The success was immediate. The launch complete. Paul & Joe continues to expand by cultivating freshness, joie de vivre, spontaneity and a cosmopolitan spirit.
Paul & Joe today is both an acknowledged brand and sold throughout the world. Several dozen boutiques and hundreds of retail shops internationally carry the brand, the main women’s line fashion show has been on the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week since 1998, ad campaigns appear in the best French and international fashion magazines, the younger line Paul & Joe Sister, cosmetics, eyewear, and multiple and varied collaboration have all seen the light of day. The Paul & Joe universe has developed and been organized into complementary units. The key word: fulfill desires.
Paul & Joe Femme
The main women’s line of Paul & Joe addresses a demanding and educated clientele. They love what is beautiful, and know what suits them. Parisian chic, that almost nonchalant elegance, always with a twist. Their credo: sign their style.
Paul & Joe Sister
The Paul & Joe Sister women’s line carries its name well: it is a little sister. A more casual proposition, more playful too, and more affordable. It is fresh and joyous, fashion with punch.
At Paul & Joe, there are no barriers. Freedom of choice, desires and family spirit prevail. The clientele of the main line can pick and choose from the little sister’s clothes, the Sister clients can go for a more sophisticated piece from the main line. All mixes are possible with shoes and accessories to boot.
Paul & Joe Homme
Paul & Joe Homme, is a modern wardrobe, both reassuring and optimistic. An impeccably cut jacket in very fine tweed, a printed shirt for a touch of originality, a seemingly classic pullover. The right ingredients so that everyone can boost his personal style.
Paul & Joe Beauté
Suits everyone. Beauty to indulge yourself. Once again Japan was at the origin of this development. Albion, the Japanese giant in the world of skincare and makeup adored Paul & Joe. First developed in 2001, this enthusiastic agreement was the origin of a complete range: lipstick, eye shadow, nail polish, powder, pencils, beauty products… Paul & Joe Beauté, is all about the quality of the formulas, as well as the particular attention paid to packaging. Form and substance, immediately recognizable boxes and cases, with the prints typical of the house, lipsticks with cat heads (Sophie’s favorite pet), limited collectors’ editions…
Paul & Joe Eyewear
Launched in 2009, the Paul & Joe glasses and sunglasses for women, men and children (in 2012) won astounding success in France and abroad. The Paul & Joe spirit at the tip of your nose!
Paul & Joe Maroquinerie
Sophie has created handbags for both her main line and for Sister for a long time. The Fall-Winter 2013-2014 collection revealed a complete line of handbags and small leather goods. Two collections that will be renewed each season, with new materials, new colors: they are Tom & Jerry. Tom has woven leather details, while Jerry has pompoms as signs of recognition.
